What types of depilatory waxes are there?
Depilatory wax comes in a variety of forms and compositions, and one of the main aspects that differs between them is the melting point of the wax.

DEPILATORY WAXES - CLASSIFICATION

There are several types of depilatory wax on the market:

  • Hair removal strips;
  • Elastic wax;
  • Traditional wax;
  • Roll-on wax;

Each of these has their own advantages and disadvantages.

Hair removal strips
. This wax can be purchased in most beauty shops at an affordable price. Cold wax is already applied to strips, eliminating the need for a wax melter or other special equipment.

The strips are completely ready to use. Before application, it is important to clean and prepare the skin for waxing. To use the wax strips, simply warm them gently between the palms of your hands, then smooth them over your skin. Then, pull them away sharply in the opposite direction of the hair growth. If hairs remain, repeat the procedure.

When you have finished waxing, clean the skin of any wax residue and apply a care product. You can use a cream or oil. Oil can help remove sticky residue, if present. This is a simple and effective method of waxing.

Advantages:

- Low cost option.
- Suitable for home use.
- Simple procedure.

Elastic depilatory wax. Wax can be purchased in cartridges (cassettes) or jars (beads). During the waxing process, the wax cartridge is inserted into a wax melter and heated to a specific temperature. A wax melter for jars is used to heat the wax in a jar. It is important that this equipment does not heat the wax to a temperature higher than +38 degrees Celsius.

After heating, the wax is applied to the skin with a special spatula and distributed evenly. It is important to apply the wax strictly in the direction of hair growth and to remove it against the direction of growth. Special strips or other non-woven materials can be used to remove hot wax. If there is wax left in the cartridge and it has hardened, it can be reheated for use again.

The hot waxing method is considered more effective than cold waxing. Hot wax removes hairs completely, leaving no gaps. It is important to remember that hot waxing is more suitable for epilating delicate areas. Pay attention to the temperature indicated on the packaging and the area to be waxed to avoid any discomfort or burns.

Advantages:

- Elasticity of the wax.
- Various fragrances and colours.
- Quality waxing.
- Does not cause allergic reactions and other negative effects.
- Repeated heating possible.
- Virtually pain-free.
- Can be used in delicate areas.

Traditional depilatory wax
. Hot epilation wax is an effective option for removing unwanted hairs, including the toughest and thickest. It is especially recommended for underarm and bikini waxing. To heat the wax properly, a special wax heater is required. Hot wax has a high temperature for both melting and application to the skin.

To start the process, the wax must be heated to 105 degrees Celsius, then cooled to 85 degrees Celsius so that it melts completely. After that, the temperature should be reduced to working temperature, about 60 degrees Celsius. The consistency should resemble that of thick sour cream.

Hot wax is usually available in pellets, discs and briquettes. Pellets are the easiest to use because they allow precise control of the amount of material used and are very easy to add during the process.

Roll-on depilatory wax is a convenient and easy-to-use option for removing unwanted hair. It is available in the form of a tube with a built-in rotary applicator. To use the wax, you need to warm it up beforehand, but it cools quickly when it comes into contact with the skin.

The roll-on wax can be applied directly to the skin without the need for additional heating. Then, a strip of cloth is applied over the wax and removed in one quick motion. It is important to mention that this method may be less effective for very stubborn hairs and may be experienced as slightly more painful, as the temperature does not dilate the pores.

One of the advantages of the roll-on wax is its hygiene, as it cannot be reused. This ensures that every user gets a fresh and clean wax for every use.

Roll-on wax is a convenient and hygienic alternative for removing unwanted hair, although it may be less effective for more resistant hairs and may cause some pain.
